SCADA integration, meter reading and remote asset monitoring for energy and utilities

We connect field data from substations, distribution grids, solar plants and water infrastructure with SCADA, meter reading and billing systems.

Data in energy and utility operations is spread over a wide area: substations, distribution kiosks, customer meters, solar inverters, pumping stations. SCADA runs the grid, but getting meter data reliably into billing, loss analysis and management reports is a separate software and integration job.

VOLSOFT works in that layer: we take data from the existing SCADA, meters, power analyzers and inverters, put it into a data model and pass it to billing, ERP and reporting systems. We do not sell field devices; we work with existing hardware or the hardware the client chooses.

A project delivered with Siemens is an example: for the utility network SCADA of an industrial zone in Türkiye, VOLSOFT built the big-data services, automatic meter reading, invoicing and third-party integrations. Work of this kind is built on Proxus today.

What we deliver

Energy and utilities

  • SCADA integration

Measurements, states and alarms are read from the existing SCADA over OPC UA, its database or its own interface, without touching its operational role.

  • Automatic meter reading

Register and load profile data from customer and feeder meters is validated, missing reads are flagged and everything is kept in one data model.

  • Billing and third-party integrations

Meter data is passed to billing, ERP and external systems, with logging and error handling built into each integration.

  • Solar and renewable plant monitoring

Inverter, string and weather station data is collected, and production, fault and performance reports are prepared.

  • Pumping stations and remote sites

Pump, level and flow data is collected from remote water and wastewater sites, and buffered on site when the link drops.

Processes we work on

Where the data starts in energy and utilities

  • Substations and distribution kiosks
  • Industrial-zone power distribution grids
  • Automatic meter reading (AMR)
  • Solar power plants
  • Wind farms
  • Water and wastewater pumping stations
  • Natural gas metering stations
  • Cogeneration plants

How a project runs

From discovery to live, step by step

  1. 01

    Existing systems and data inventory

We review SCADA, the meter reading infrastructure, billing and ERP, and map where each piece of data comes from and where it needs to go.

  2. 02

    Data model and integration design

The substation, feeder, customer and meter hierarchy is defined, along with integration points, validation rules and security requirements.

  3. 03

    Pilot area

Data collection and transfer go live for one area or plant, and results are compared with existing records.

  4. 04

    Rollout and operational support

The remaining sites are added, the operations team is trained and the system runs under a support agreement.

Built on Proxus

Proxus reads meters, power analyzers and inverters over Modbus TCP/RTU and SCADA over OPC UA, stores the data in its historian and passes it to billing, ERP or cloud systems.

Proxus is the industrial data platform built by the VOLSOFT team.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions

What are SCADA integration services?

SCADA integration means sharing the measurements, states and alarms a SCADA system collects with billing, ERP, maintenance and reporting systems. SCADA keeps running the grid, while the integration layer validates the data and delivers it to the systems that need it.

How does automatic meter reading work?

In an automatic meter reading system, meters are read remotely over a communication network and register and load profile data is gathered centrally. After validation, the data is used for billing and loss analysis.

What energy project has VOLSOFT been part of?

VOLSOFT worked with Siemens on the utility network SCADA project of an industrial zone in Türkiye. Big-data services, automatic meter reading, invoicing and third-party integrations were built in that project.

How is a solar plant monitoring system set up?

Solar monitoring collects data from inverters, string boxes, power analyzers and the weather station, most of which communicate over Modbus. The data is turned into production, fault and performance reports.

How long does an energy infrastructure project take?

It depends on the number of sites and meters, the existing SCADA and billing systems and the integration scope. Projects usually start with one pilot area, and the scope is set during the discovery call.
